Tour of the Canyon

Post by Rachel Spealing on Tue Dec 21, 2010 5:24 pm

A shadow appeared upon the edge of a ledge on high. A female's figure stood there gazing down on the majestic canyon below. It was a beautiful sight, truly. The sun above seemed to paint the overview of the canyon with an array of vivid colors. It was a traveler's wonder. The girl, named Rachel, would have never guessed such a place existed. It fueled her excitement for the adventure ahead. But the way down to the canyon bottom would be treacherous. She would have to be willing to take the chance if the full experience was what she hoped to obtain. Her backpack dropped onto the ground suddenly.

"Seems I'm to explore a canyon! So I'll dress for the part."

Her current outer garments went to the air suddenly as she discarded them from her person. Within moments, her new appearance was made apparent. She had changed into a Brown Leather jacket over a long sleeved khaki shirt, brown khaki pants and boots. The final two pieces for this outfit were fedora hat and a bull whip. Yep she was going for the Indy Jones look, female style. The top two buttons of her khaki shirt were left unopened and as for the hat, Rachel gave herself a much needed haircut at the ponytail with a knife. Then she undid the bounds that kept it up so the hat would fit. She looked down at the cut strands of hair just before the wind picked up to scatter them across the canyon. Rachel had a grin on her face. This was the beginning of a new adventure. Her used clothing were placed inside the bag before it back to her back. Then she decided to take the canyon head on.

There was a steep slope nearby. Rachel saw this. She immediately went sprinting for the slope. With a boundless leap she planted her feet against the slope. Gravity proceeded to do the rest as she went sliding down toward the canyon bottom. She saw her body slip deeper and deeper into the shade. She was getting further away from the sun's reach. Her ride down came to a stop as she came to level ground. Landing on the ledge with her hands and one knee down, Rachel looked around. Immediately to her right was a cave. Caves were a major part of canyons. She might as well start there. Rachel's silent demeanor was only broken with the sound of a deep breath. She entered the cave through the entrance before her. Thus, bringing her canyon adventure to a start.

As you were sliding down the side of the canyon there was this mole looking pokémon that appeared. Actually, there were a few of them and they were in your way. Suddenly, they disappeared back into the earth and when you went over where they were, you fell through the canyon into it. Yes, you were now, literally inside of the canyon. There the Digletts laughed at you as they hid back into the earth, except one. There was one that was looking at you with an evil look on its face like it was ready to fight. You might have fell into its trap. What were you to do? You could fight the Pokémon, or you could run away; it's up to you.

Re: Tour of the Canyon

Post by Rachel Spealing on Tue Dec 21, 2010 6:11 pm

Rachel stopped in her tracks. She looked down at the head of the mole. The Pokemon wasn't easily identified by her eyes alone so she consulted her Pokedex in hand.

Diglett. The movement of these Ground Pokémon can be easily detected by their tracks of upturned earth.

Rachel frowned. The dex entry told her nothing helpful about the creature except it was a ground type. Maybe it was a chance to put one of her new Pokemon to the test. Rachel had a grin on her face. She went down on one knee. Her right hand reached for the front edge of her fedora and pulled it down so that only one eye was visible viewing her from the front. Her left hand had a poke'ball she drew from the bag she dropped onto the ground. Standing up again she launched the ball forward, releasing a blue skinned turtle pokemon to the field; Squirtle.

"Squirtle. Use Bubble attack!" She called.

But Squirtle turned around to her looking confused. A question mark appeared over its forehead. Rachel frowned.

This thing doesn't know Bubble yet? That's bad.

Squirtle seemed to be waiting for an order it understood. Rachel looked to Diglett. It didn't look like it was capable of surfacing more than its head. This was going to be a game of whack-a-mole.

"Fine. Can you try a tackle?"

Squirtle had smile on its face. Apparently it knew how to tackle. Squirtle launched itself across the air at Diglett, retreating to its shell as it started spinning. Rachel guessed this was how it was aiming to pick up speed for the tackle. Anyway she watched as Squirtle drew closer to Diglett and waited to see how the attack would go.

As the squirrel turtle moved closer to the Diglett, it disappeared into the ground. The Water Type's attack had completely missed, going over head of the Diglett. It laughed at you as you failed to connect an attack. It was definitely mocking you, but right now, it wasn't paying any attention to your Squirtle... This was your moment to do what you have to do.... but could you do it?

Squirtle landed on its feet having missed the tackle. Rachel needed Squirtle to be quicker than that. Without a moment of hesitation, she called out the order for Squirtle to attempt tackling again. Sadly she grumbled to herself this would go a lot better if Squirtle knew a water type move. But everything had to start from somewhere. So she'd have faith in Squirtle and allow it to continue trying to battle. With the Diglett busy taunting her, perhaps Squirtle would have a chance to hit?

The Diglett was hit with the Tackle and hit its head on the hard rock that was the ground. It rose back up, and was now tired like it had just took a smoke of some serious stuff. It was really getting to it. It didn't think that it can keep up for very long, but it would keep trying. It disappeared into the ground and reappeared and this claw came out of the hole too directly at the Squirtle. It was using scratch attack on it. It was pretty close, so let's see how fast your Pokémon was.

Squirtle was a turtle and therefore dodging wasn't exactly its forte...yet. The scratch came across the turtle's belly and knocked it back, leaving marks where it was hit. Rachel kept her disposition, despite seeing Squirtle go down. Surely it wasn't over just from that hit. Squirtle rose to its feet, just as Rachel hoped it would. Squirtle took stance again. Perhaps Rachel would get to see something special after all. Squirtle withdrew into its shell as it started spinning against the ground. There was the sudden sound like the screeching of a tire rolling stationary against the ground before Squirtle took off for Diglett's form. There was a bump in the ground ahead which sent Squirtle up into the air. It hit the cave sealing like a pinball. Rachel's eyes widened as Squirtle bounced off the ceiling and shot down toward Diglett's head.

The Diglett wasn't expecting that! It didn't know if the bump on the ground was part of the Squirtles tactics, but nonetheless caught the Diglett off-guard it was actually preparing for a scratch attack.

As Diglett tried a futile escape by digging, it knew it wouldn't make it, and with a sickening *CRUNCH!* as it struck the poor little pokemon on its round head, almost denting it! The Diglett swayed on the ground, clearly dizzy and has flinched from that beast of a Tackle attack, causing it to be disorientated completely!

Now's your chance to really finish it off!

Squirtle practically ricocheted off the poor Diglett's head. Rachel saw the need to end this else it would become dangerous. Her sharp reflexes snatched the bull whip that was attached to her belt off its latch. Swinging it valiantly, she launched it at the bouncing Squirtle's turtle shell. The whip's end wrapped around the turtle's shell where Rachel gave a sharp tug. This unraveled the whip from Squirtle's shell and caused the flying Squirtle to drop out of the air. Squirtle's shell hit the ground, still spinning like a top but in place.

A slap of the whip across the bottom of the shell placed it flat on the ground. Squirtle then emerged, dizzy but unharmed. Rachel sat on the ground taking a deep breath as she wiped her forehead. Rachel then looked over to the Diglett who had been all but dazed by the furious attack. Squirtle snapped out of its dizziness and looked over to Diglett.

"Try a normal tackle this time!" Rachel asked.

Squirtle gave a nod then looked over to the Diglett. Squirtle did a simple jump from the ground and tried to knock itself against Diglett again for the finishing blow.

Critical! Both dazed and disorientated the Diglett had no chance of dodging! Squirtle pretty much stayed in contact with pokemon for a short moment...And as Squirtle took a step back, the poor pokemon had a sizable dent in its face, and its eyes where now spinning.

Seems like you won! But what will you do?! Catch it and whip it?! Or let it go?! Remember, you got the powah, no pressure.....But really, what will you do!?

Squirtle had managed a stunning victory. But man was Rachel going to need to train it. That was a dangerous situation that could have enveloped. She supposed she could catch the Diglett but with her team full already and her poke'ball numbers low she figured she might conserve for something a bit better.

"Squirtle return!"

She retrieved Squirtle from the field. She took one more look at the Diglett and decided to let it recover and continue living in the wild. Perhaps there was something else to catch her eyes here in the caverns.

And something did come, pretty quick infact. You'll suddenly feel the ground rumble underneath you!! It was a definite sign of a pokemon, but what?! Pray to the lord it won't be another Diglett!

Then you'll hear a small *pop* right underneath you. Looking down, right between your legs, was a little blue head, and it had 2, very very large digging claws.

[Don't know the name, forgives me.]

It obviously didn't see you yet cause it was looking where it came out of, but what about you?! Will you battle this odd pokemon before it looks up, or try and sneak away from it?

Rachel looked at this Pokemon that had popped out of the ground. Her eyes went wide not recognizing the thing at all. She aimed her Pokedex at the creature for some indication.

Mogurew: The Mole Pokemon! No additional information is available.

Rachel had a bit of a frown on. With no information from the Pokedex, this was going to be difficult to gauge. As she tried to decide how to approach this, one of the Poke'Balls in her backpack burst open and released something to the field. Rachel gasped and looked over to see Munchlax materialize.

"Muuunch!"

"Munchlax? What are you doing?"

Munchlax threw his hands up in the air, waving them in such a way that Rachel thought he wanted to battle.

"You want to battle?"

Munchlax gave a nod. "Munch...lax!"

Rachel had to say that Munchlax had thus far proven to be quite powerful. Perhaps the idea of Munchlax battling the unknown opponent wasn't bad at all. But the best move it had was Metronome. She should be careful with such a move especially here. For now she'd play it carefully.

"Alright Munchlax. Let's see a defense curl!"

Rachel didn't know what kind of moves this creature could use so she wanted to be safe.

The Mogurew didn't know you were there until it looked straight up...your skirt! Ofcourse being pokemon it didn't really think much. Then it saw the Munchlax, and also got a closer look at you. Seeing you in your attire actually intimidated the poor little pokemon, especially the whip, and out of reaction, it suddenly reached into the dirt, and tossed up a sudden wall of mud! It was attacking you with Mud-slap!!

Rachel certainly reacted quick enough. Spring sideways, she managed to avoid getting mud on her brand new outfit. That was hardly her concern though. Her main concern was how powerful the attack was. But now she had a guess at the kind of Pokemon this creature was. She looked over to her Munchlax.

"Munchlax, tackle now!"

Munchlax waddled over. Munchlax looked prepared to do something. Then suddenly Munchlax sprang from his place and went for the tackle. Rachel kind of watched with a quirked brow as Munchlax threw his weight at the mole.

The Mogurew tilted his head in confusion. "Mog." His voice was deep and sort of mole stereotype like. He picked up some more mud with his claws and flung it at Munchlax. "Urew." The mole picked up more mud and flung it at Rachel. Seemed as though the thing didn't want either of you here, and those large claws could be very intimidating...

"Mogureww..."

This creature seemed to be a ground type based on appearance and move type so far. As Rachel found herself dodging yet another attempt to throw mud in her face, her mind scattered to come up with a plan. Munchlax managed to deal with the mud slap head on without much difficulty. It seemed she was going to have to use that move. Rachel gave a reluctant expression.

"Use Metronome, Munchlax!"

Munchlax's right hand went up the air and started to glow. Rachel seemed to be bracing herself for the unknown at this point.

[[Wow... You're an unlucky hoe.]]

The mole like creature braced itself for it's impending doom... But it never came. Munchlax was suddenly surrounded by lightning, although miraculously wasn't damaged by it in the slightest- odd, but fortunate. Abruptly, the lightning shifted, before whip lashing towards the mole, who merely blinked in surprise. With the thunderous sound of lightning crashing violently against the hard rocky surface of the canyon, and rocks flying every which way due to the powerful impact: it was difficult to see what had happened to the creature. And of course, as the clouds of dirt dispersed, and the last few sparks that surrounded the baby Pokemon's body died... It became clear that the attack- shockwave- did absolutely nothing to the unsuspecting ground type. Metronome had failed completely.

Now, the mole looked pissed. It cried out in anger, before rushing forward- pulling it's arm back in preparation. As soon as it got close enough, it lashed out; swiping furiously at it's foe's sensitive flesh with sharp claws.

Re: Tour of the Canyon

Rachel had braced herself for a disastrous outcome with Metronome. Unfortunately it did happen. Just not in the way she expected. An electric aura surrounding Munchlax gave her the impression he would launch an electric attack soon. Rachel was knocked back when Munchlax unleashed its electric attack upon the surroundings of the battlefield. Her eyes looked to the cave ceiling just in time to avoid some rocks falling from it. But she ended up covered in dirt and debris from the cave walls. Then all went silent for the moment.

Rachel was finally able to get up from the ground and she looked around. A dust cloud was settling and Munchlax had made himself visible. She then was able to see their opponent, Mogurew, was completely unaffected. This was more proof in her mind she was dealing with a ground type. The creature appeared angrier at Munchlax. The creature rushed Munchlax. Munchlax seemed dumbfounded at the time. Mogurew's claws made vicious impact against Munchlax's body. Rachel was made worrisome when she listened to Munchlax's cry of pain. But Munchlax had not fallen, possible due to his body frame and weight.

Rachel knew though this was probably not the best battle for Munchlax to participate in. Munchlax had staggered back. From where she could see, he had been left with some vicious claw marks on the belly. Rachel decided to bring him back for safety. Munchlax's Poke'Ball was brought out and used to bring him back from battle. She would attend to his needs later. Rachel wasn't out of options just yet. She released the energy from another Poke'Ball. This one took the form of Snorunt. With the type of her opponent deciphered, she decided to play with type advantage.

"Snorunt, Powder Snow!"

Snorunt was quick and to the point. The creature's body shivered beyond belief. It made it tough to believe Snorunt was an ice type. But when it unleashed that blast of cold air and snow flakes at the mole creature, Rachel knew it was the truth.

Mogurew was caught off guard when the little snow-hat pokemon came out, and was actually halfway charging aiming a vicious Fury-Swipe once more...And was definitely caught off-guard when the little thing suddenly bursted out the cold, and freezing attack! How could one know, who has never seen a Snorunt to be a Ice type!? Struck fully with the blow, the mole-pokemon was hit with a Critical-hit, and rolled across the ground, its fur having some patches of snow here and there.

"Mo....gurew!" it grunted, standing up on its little stubby feet, and getting up, it began tossing out loads and loads of mud from the cave floor, and flinged all of them at Snorunt!

Rachel and Snorunt looked at the flinging mud in shock. Diving aside, Rachel hid herself behind a large rock that had been dropped down courtesy of Munchlax's failed Shock Wave attack. Snorunt scurried along with her to do the same. This was starting to get tough. Rachel wondered if her Snorunt was strong enough to try something though.

"Can you disable it?" She asked.

Snorunt seemed to affirm the question in the way it shook its head. So that's what she was going to run with.

"Disable attack then!"

She pushed Snorunt back out there. The creature's body became outlined with a thin blue aura. Snorunt was casting a disabling psychic power on Mogurew.

The Mogurew continued to toss up the Mud-slap like mad...When suddenly, it felt like it...forgot how to do it! The Pokemon looked confused for a moment, waving it's arms in wide angles, trying to remember what Mud-slap was suppose to do.

It then saw Snorunt once more, and it decided that it was the reason why! And with a angry growl, the Mogurew charged once more, spinning with its dangerous claws out like a windmill! Rapid-spin attack!

Putting a stop to that mud-slinging was key. With it done with, Rachel could come out of hiding. She did so just in time to see Snorunt be knocked aside by a spinning Mogurew. Snorunt seemed to shake the hit off well enough that it could get back up but now it was angry. Rachel shared that anger and knew how she wanted to channel it.

"Let's turn down the temperature again! Powder Snow!"

Snorunt seemed to grunt as if to say "No Problem!". Then into position again, the angered Snorunt started to dispense cold flurries of snow carried by gale force winds at the mole creature.

Now the Mogurew was in despair, its warm environment again becoming cold for it's liking! It gave a upset hiss, and tried to use Mud-Slap again, but just ended up flailing its arms like a windmill!

Suddenly, one large glob of snow struck the Mogurew, and it was buried completely! As your attack your subsides, you'll see the pokemons large claws sticking out of the snow...And it was frantically waving!

It might look like it was aggressive...But in truth it was suffocating in the snow, and needed help...Fast!

Trapped. She could see the creature was desperate to get loose. But to go over there and let out by moving the snow seemed like a recipe for disaster. For now, it seemed like the most convenient way to save it was attempt capture. She drew an empty Poke'Ball and launched it toward the mole without looking. Immediately however she saw the ball was a different color than the ones she normally used. She had just tossed her Dusk Ball. Careless acting caused her to use her special Poke'Ball. For now she'd just have to hope for the best. The Dusk Ball was said to work better in caves and at night elsewhere.
